Product Description

Cook Medical G17323 - CATHETER, DUAL-LUMEN, URETERAL ACCESS, EACH

Dual Lumen Ureteral Access Catheter with AQ Hydrophilic Coating

Used for the injection of contrast medium and anaesthetic gel, and/or for safety wire placement. The dual lumen design eliminates the need for multiple catheterisations. The Flexi-Tip catheter is designed to promote atraumatic passage into and through the ureter. The Flexi-Tip catheters AQ coating is a microthin layer of hydrophilic polymer that, when activated, attracts and holds water and other liquids to the catheter, creating a lowfriction surface.

NOTE: Prior to use, immerse AQ catheter in sterile water or isotonic saline to allow the hydrophilic surface to absorb water and become lubricious. This will ease placement under standard conditions.

NOTE: These instructions provide a generic approach for placing a ureteral catheter. The physician should make appropriate adjustments for ureteral catheters whose configuration does not facilitate over-the-wire placement.

CAUTION: Sterile if the package is unopened or undamaged. Do not use if package is broken.

Contraindications

There are no known contraindications.

  1. Pass the appropriate size wire guide into the renal pelvis. CAUTION: Care must be taken not to pass the wire guide too far into the renal pelvis.
  2. Maintaining wire guide position, pass the ureteral catheter over the wire guide through the ureter and into the renal pelvis.
  3. Remove wire guide and then cystoscope while maintaining the catheter position.
  4. Remove catheter and dispose.
