Product Description

Molnlycke 285280 - Mesalt - Sodium Chloride Dressing to Stimulate the Cleansing of Discharging Wounds

Mesalt (4" x 4" (2" x 2" folded)) - Sodium Chloride Dressing to Stimulate the Cleansing of Discharging Wounds

Absorbent, Sodium Chloride Impregnated Dressing

Mesalt stimulates the debridement of heavily discharging wounds in the inflammatory phase by absorbing exudate, bacteria and necrotic material. This effectively facilitates the wound healing process.

  • For wounds with medium to high levels of exudate
  • Stimulates wound cleansing
  • Reduces the bacterial burden on the wound to manage infection
  • Easy to use

  • Natural cleansing action supports healing, even in infected wounds
  • Creates a hypertonic wound environment which is unfavourable to micro-organisms
  • Absorbs exudate, bacteria and necrotic material
  • Easy one-step application
  • Supports bacterial balance
  • Maintains its integrity even when fully saturated

How Mesalt works

Mesalt is applied dry. As it absorbs drainage, the crystalline sodium chloride dissolves to create a hypertonic environment that naturally wicks drainage, edema and debris into the dressing and supports the natural cleansing mechanism of the wound while providing a moist wound environment.

Areas of use

  • Heavily draining or infected wounds in the inflammatory phase
  • Deep cavity wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Surgical wounds

Indications for use

Mesalt is intended for wounds with moderate to heavy drainage including wounds with yellow slough or fibrin and infected wounds.

Note

There may be an increase in the amount of drainage and the size of the wound during initial treatment with Mesalt due to reduction of edema and removal of wound debris.

Precautions

  • Do not reuse. If reused, performance of the product may deteriorate, cross contamination may occur.
  • Mesalt should not be used on dry wounds.
  • Mesalt should not be allowed to come into direct contact with exposed bone or tendon.
